Sandler Partners Saves 18 Days

The Challenge

Focused on providing value added services to their agents, Sandler Partners has seen meteoric growth as a master agency in the indirect channel. In 2006 such growth created back office headaches and a solution was seriously needed. "I knew we would be successful because our model was unique and support-oriented," recalls Alan, "but I didn't expect it to hit as fast as it did. We reached a magic point wherein referrals from our agent partners mushroomed and our administrative needs skyrocketed. This was one of those full-circle situations. Our success was founded on being partners to those who need it, and we found ourselves in need of our own partner to help us with what was rapidly becoming an enormous administrative load. This is when we turned to RPM ."

One key area that was vital to Sandler Partners was earnings and commissions management, which required reconciliation of monies owed and paid by carriers, and getting commissions checks out to agent partners on time and with accuracy. Sandler has a very large portfolio of carriers -- more than 70 -- and the task of reconciling monthly reports and calculating the partner payouts was taking nearly a full month complete. "We were growing fast and at a point where we didn't know if we were going to be able to complete the monthly commission run before the next set of monthly reports started coming in," Alan recalls. "We needed a scalable solution that would allow us to maintain our spotless record of commissions payments to our agent partners."

Our Solution

In September of 2006, Sandler Partners contracted with RPM Software to implement their software, AGENT, powered by RPM. By utilizing the commissions management functionality in AGENT, Sandler was able to reduce the time spent to complete the commission process from 30 days down to 12. No longer did the month-long effort threaten to overlap into future months work. Further, the money spent on this work was reduced dramatically. AGENT enables Sandler to make sure all orders are commissioned from the carriers, that the carrier calculations match what the contracts provide for, that no accounts drop off the compensation reports, and that all subagents or referral partners are paid properly and in a timely fashion.

Results

Back office time spent was reduced by 18 days saving Sandler Partners significant time and money. Missing accounts are now easily recognized and the related commissions are recovered from carriers.

Future Plans

With the new API development for AGENT, powered by RPM, Sandler Partners is one of many subscribers that will tie outside processes into the AGENT solution.
