Utilizing their 200+ combined years of experience in telecommunications, Telcom National has been able to focus on and attract Enterprise-sized customers. As a solution provider to these larger customers Telcom National wanted to add some type of value differentiator to their service offering, so in 2003 they began offering “telecom expense management”. This consisted of using elaborate Excel documents to keep track of, in some cases, tens of thousands of dollars in carrier bills. Over time they began to attract more of these types of customers who ultimately would have higher and higher expectations of what Telcom National could manage for them. The challenges included managing this massive amount of information, emailing large Excel files back and forth between departments, and updating the spreadsheets on a monthly basis. As stated by Mark Paluso, president of Telcom National, "To say the least, it became a nightmare and we eventually had to have one support person for each account manager!"
In late 2005 Telcom National contracted with RPM to implement their RPM Telco software solution. As described by Paluso, "We began to manage the account information inside of RPM, which was so user friendly and because it was all on line--there was no need to pass Excel files back and forth between departments"
Mark Paluso continues. "Telcom National became 400% more efficient I would estimate as departments could work together without sending a single email--changes were immediately updated on line for all to see! Not to mention we saved at least 40 man-hours a month that used to be spent tracking commissions for agents—RPM would now handle that easily with simple reports that could be pulled online in a much better format than we were accustomed to. Discrepancy reports, agent reports, customer audits—everything would now be easier, a no-brainer, going forward using RPM. We began to wonder how we ever survived our first 2 years not having used RPM! Our salespeople now use RPM as a “sales tool” to help close more Enterprise-sized relationships. We created several demo accounts in RPM that we show customers, and the feedback has been startling. Customers see us as more professional, more organized, and more trust worthy as a result of simply using RPM."
